In oil & gas drilling solids control system, both submersible slurry pump and screw pump can be used to feed mud for decanter centrifuge. But what differences is there between them?
Submersible Slurry Pump
A submersible slurry pump is a heavier and more strong version of centrifugal pump used for handling tough and very abrasive applications. The centrifugal pump is mainly used for forcing out liquids that are clear. The slurry pump on the other hand is used for the hydraulic transport of the solids.
Submersible Slurry Pump
Devices involved in the solid material transportation are referred to pumps. They are specifically given their names depending on the solid size they transport. The names could also change depending on the uses the devices are used for.
Features & Benefits of KOSUN Submersible Slurry Pump:
1. The pump shaft under the liquid has enough rigidity. No bearing is set between impeller and pump.
2. Shaft seal is not adapted, the medium with dense solids can also be transported.
3. The pump may penetrate the liquid between 800m-2500mm under it, and may be equipped suction pipes if necessary.
4. Vertical motor is installed on the motor base, connected to the pump by coupling.
Screw Pump
A screw pump is a positive displacement pump that use one or several screws to move fluids or solids along the screw(s) axis. In its simplest form (the Archimedes' screw pump), a single screw rotates in a cylindrical cavity, thereby moving the material along the screw's spindle. This ancient construction is still used in many low-tech applications, such as irrigation systems and in agricultural machinery for transporting grain and other solids.
Submersible Slurry Pump
Compared to centrifugal pumps, positive displacements (PD) pumps have several advantages. The pumped fluid is moving axially without turbulence which eliminates foaming that would otherwise occur in viscous fluids. They are also able to pump fluids of higher viscosity without losing flow rate. Also, changes in the pressure difference have little impact on PD pumps compared to centrifugal pumps.
Features & Benefits of KOSUN Screw Pump:
1.The shaft of the pump is made from stainless steel, screw pump is available for option with a complete stainless steel body.
2.The stator is made of elastomeric material, so it has particular advantages than other pump to transfer the fluids of high viscosity and hard suspended particles included.
3.The pump is of compact structure, small volume, easy maintenance, rotor and stator are wear parts of this pump, it is convenient to replace.
