Mud gun also can be called mud mixing gun. It is usually used along with mud agitator as mixers for oil rig. Mud gun is designed for use in a solids control system of a drilling rig. It is a tool which is mainly used for mixing drilling mud in the circulatory system and to prevent the mud from precipitating. The structure of equipment is simple offering flexible operation and easy use. A mud gun is commonly used to guard against precipitates in a solids control system. The mud gun is installed in a mud tank.
Mud Gun
What type of mud gun is applied in oil & gas drilling mud solids control system?
1. Low pressure mud gun: Widely used to connect with mixing pump or jet mud mixer to provide power for it ,normally not more than 3.2mpa, one nozzle which rotate 360°, or 3 nozzles 360°. The shaft is made of stainless steel and the impeller can be welded type or casting type as customized.
2. High pressure mud gun: 6.4mpa, which is connected with mud pump directly to keep the tank agitated and mixed, both fixed and rotary type available.
Usually mud gun is used together with mud agitator. The mud agitator is used in the middle of the mud tank while the mud gun is placed in the corner of the tank. The mud gun is consisted by main construction by steel pipe and flange, the valves ( including high pressure or normal pressure ), and the rotary parts.
KOSUN drilling mud gun usually carry mud from a downstream compartment and spray it into an upstream compartment to keep solids suspending. If the KOSUN drilling fluid mud gun with swivel handle there won’t be any blind angle in the tank. Now the effect of mud guns tends to be localized around the point where the nozzle may add mud into the mud tank.
