The mud gun also can be called mud mixing gun. As we know it is usually used together with mud agitator as mixers for oil & gas drilling solids control system.
Mud Gun is designed for using in a solids control system, and plays an irreplaceable role as solids control equipment. It is a tool which is mainly used for mixing drilling mud in the circulation system and to prevent the mud from precipitating. The structure of equipment is simple offering flexible operation and easy use.
Mud gun consists of steel pipe and flange, the valves including high pressure or low pressure, and the rotary.
KOSUN mud gun is simple in design and structure. Usually all turning takes place on double rows of steel balls in flame hardened races. There is nothing to tighten or adjust. Flow is unrestricted and pressure drop is minimum.
1. KOSUN Mud Guns are available for rotation adjustment to allow the operator to optimize the mud guns performance C-face explosion-proof electric motor.
2. The replaceable wear resistant jet nozzle is used, which is special design with better shearing.
General maintenance:
1. Grease the swivel once a week. Add (2) shots of a multipurpose NLGI no 2 grease.
2. Visually inspect the mud gun assembly for any leaks, loose fittings once a week. Repair as required.
3. Inspect mud gun jet nozzle for excessive wear. The nozzle has a 5/8” bore when new. The nozzle should be changed when the bore is 7/8” or higher. This should be done once a month.
Once installation is complete, the unit can be started by turning the feed pump on. The direction of discharge may be modified to suit the operators requirements by rotating the swivel.
